Why We Started FOIA Experts
FOIA Experts was started around a simple idea:
Government agencies hold an extraordinary amount of information about contracts, spending, inspections, permits, regulatory activity, public decisions, communications, policies, and countless other subjects.
That information can help a business understand a market, an attorney investigate a matter, a journalist pursue a story, a contractor understand an award, or an individual answer an important question.
But information being public does not necessarily mean it is easy to obtain.
The relevant records may be spread across agencies, buried in government systems, available only through a formal records request, or difficult to identify without knowing how the agency organizes its information.
We built FOIA Experts to bridge that gap.

FOIA Experts therefore uses its own business name and contact information when submitting standard public-records requests. We do not identify the underlying client to the records agency as part of the ordinary request process.
We also treat client identity, research objectives, request history, private materials, communications, and client-specific work product as confidential information. We do not sell client identities or client request histories.
